How Plainmark handles your content.
A plain-language explanation of the data used to convert PDFs and public webpages into Markdown.
PDFs you upload
Plainmark temporarily stores an uploaded PDF and its conversion output so the review workspace can display them. A cleanup routine removes conversion folders older than 24 hours when the service processes later conversions. Hosting restarts may remove temporary files sooner.
Public URLs you submit
When you use Web to Markdown, Plainmark sends the URL to its server, retrieves the publicly available HTML, and returns the cleaned Markdown to your browser. The webpage URL and Markdown result are not stored as a conversion job by Plainmark.
Visual webpage references
The optional full-page reference is requested directly from a third-party screenshot service. That provider receives the public URL needed to create the image and may process it under its own terms and privacy policy. The Markdown conversion can still work if the visual reference fails.
How conversion content is used
Plainmark uses uploaded PDFs and retrieved webpage content only to complete the requested conversion. Plainmark does not use this content to train AI models or send PDF contents to third-party AI services.
Anonymous feedback
If you select Yes or Not quite on the homepage, Plainmark records the selected answer with a timestamp. The feedback record does not include your PDF, file name, Markdown, submitted URL, email address, or account identity.
Accounts and cookies
Plainmark does not currently provide user accounts. The application does not intentionally set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Sensitive content
Do not submit material when your organization, contract, or applicable law requires a specifically approved storage or processing environment. Only submit a PDF or public URL when you are comfortable with the processing described above.
Changes to this policy
This policy may change as Plainmark adds hosting, analytics, account features, or new conversion tools. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes materially.
